Beyond Networking

At almost every stage of a legal career, there comes a moment when you think “I’m not sure what to do next”.

You might seek reassurance through a coffee with a friend or family member, a colleague or a mentor. These catch ups matter as they give us energy, encouragement, inspiration, motivation and sometimes direction. But they also have limits.

Not everyone has the same starting point. For first-generation law students and graduates, access to these conversations isn’t guaranteed. You may not have people in your immediate network who can demystify the profession or share what different paths really look like.

Even when advice is available, it’s often shaped by someone else’s experiences, assumptions, or definition of success which may make you question whether this advice is right for you.

As your career progresses, the stakes only get higher. For more experienced lawyers, networking becomes more strategic and often more transactional. It’s essential for building business pipelines, creating opportunities for progression and for opening doors to in-house roles or lateral moves. But even at this level, networking tends to focus on external opportunities rather than clarity on structured options or directions.

Why Considered?

Considered was built to fill that gap by providing a more intentional way to navigate your career. It's not as a replacement for networking, but as a complement to it. It's a place where you can:

• Reflect on advice, rather than react to it • Track your goals, progress, and achievements • Build a clear picture of your skills, learning, and development • Capture pro bono work, applications, and career moves in one place • Make decisions grounded in your values and not just based on momentum or external pressure

It’s designed to give you something most professionals don’t have: a consistent, structured way to think about your career over time because the best career decisions aren’t rushed. They’re considered. They evolve as you do and require more than occasional conversations to get right.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about your direction, even with good advice around you, it's not unusual. Considered can help you start thinking more intentionally about your career goals.
